Based on Euripides' The Bacchae, Sereia tells the story of a young woman, a demigoddess and master of capoeira (the Brazilian martial art form), who returns to her village after a long absence. Set in the city of Cachoeira in Bahia, in Northeast Brazil on the day of the initiation of girls into the Sisterhood of the Good Death, Sereia is a story of revenge and redemption.
